100 George Street, Edinburgh
A mix of different uses – shops, offices and a restaurant for Oloroso - now occupy this rework of the Pearl Assurance building at the corner of George Street and Castle Street.
The design retains the original facades of the property and three Georgian townhouses in Castle Street – all Grade B listed. An extra floor was added to create a landmark rooftop restaurant with stunning views of the Castle and the Forth.
Designed to add something new but entirely in the spirit of the 1930’s original, the extra floor and terrace added space which gained the full support of Historic Scotland.
