CDA entered two groups to the Terraviva competition ‘Punta Bianca’ based on the white cliffs along the southern Sicilian coastline. Mari, Toby, Ediz, Daria and Amina presented their proposals for the Terraviva Punta Bianca Competition to our studio.
The competition proposed the transformation of the Customs House —a historical ruin - into a Visitor Centre for the Punta Bianca Nature Reserve. The initiative aimed to protect and celebrate the area's natural and cultural heritage, offering a contemporary intervention to enhances tourism, education, and environmental appreciation in the highly protected and scenic natural reserve.
CDA’s entries presented two different approaches: a master-planning proposal aiming to accommodate tourism and natural regeneration through several small structures across a scenic route, and an adaptive re-use of the customs house to a visitor’s centre with a greenhouse extension displaying the local flora and fauna in an immersive and educational experience for the visitor.
