CDA's proposals for ASDA Retail Parc, Straiton has received unanimous approval from Midlothian Council planning committee.
The proposed development consists of two 20000 ft2 retail units, and five 4000 ft2 units with associated customer parking and delivery service yard. The new commercial units are located on an existing vacant brownfield derelict site within Loanhead, between the A701 Straiton Road and the existing Pentland Industrial Estate.
The site is integral to the existing Straiton Commercial Centre, and will be a welcome addition to the area, on an existing brownfield site. The development will have a total of 278 parking spaces, with all standard bays at 2800mm wide, with dedicated Accessible and Parent & Child spaces. The site is designed to promote active travel, providing adequate cycle storage.
The proposal retains many of the existing trees and areas of shrubbery on site. The landscaped margin along the A701 creates separation between the units and the residential area opposite. Perimeter green space softening the hard landscaping to the front of the retail units.
Well done to the project team on this approval, we are looking forward to the next stages.
