CDA attend YPIC Scotland event in Edinburgh

Our team attended YPIC Scotland’s first event of 2026 at Dentons in Edinburgh. Lola McHardy, Daria Zielonka, Gabriella Szalay and Jovairia Akbar enjoyed an evening of networking and inspiring talks.

It was great to hear from Joanne Dunwell, Ruth Hamilton and Karla Duncan of Bennetts Associates, who shared valuable insights into the King’s Theatre redevelopment in Edinburgh.

The talk was fascinating and highlighted the unpredictability and complexities of working with existing buildings, particularly listed buildings with such significant cultural and historical value.

The speakers emphasised the importance of strong collaboration between architects and contractors in resolving unforeseen challenges, often requiring quick, logical decision making on site. Hearing about the hardships faced during the pandemic, the impact on project timescales, as well as the pride in delivering a project that will be enjoyed by the public for generations to come, was especially inspiring.

Daria commented "The evening was excellent and very well organised. Drinks and pizza created a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere, making it easy to connect and chat with people from across the industry."
