Printworks, Manchester

CDA’s renovation repositions the Printworks as a leading leisure destination in the UK and internationally.

Rapid changes in the leisure sector meant that two strategic objectives have been delivered: to protect the Printworks future and ensure it contributes to the city centre economy.

The building, whilst not listed, is a significant heritage asset and located within and adjacent to important Conservation Areas within the city. A tailored refurbishment strategy was implemented to reposition Printworks for the future whilst remaining sympathetic to its past. Externally the heritage facades are restored whilst integrating new gateway entrances, programmable LED signage panels and lighting.

The Internal spaces are not constrained by heritage detail and here the design focuses on programmable, and interactive LED panels that create an immersive experience under the largest LED soffit in Europe.
