Pentland House, Edinburgh

CDA was approached by S1 Developments to redevelop Pentland House from office accommodation to student residences. The existing six-storey office building is located in the Chesser area of the city and dates from the 1970s. 

The proposal comprises 337 student bedrooms formed in a mix of cluster apartment sizes and a variety of amenity spaces including gym, lounge and cinema. To improve the efficiency of the building four of the existing circulation cores were removed and replaced with two new compact cores. 

The external fabric of the building was also upgraded with new double glazed windows and aluminium cladding.
