Old Brewery, Bristol

The site consists of a number of low-quality warehouses situated on the site of a former brewery, in the heart of Southville, an inner-city ward of Bristol. The mixed-use masterplan includes the redevelopment of those buildings and the addition of two new towers.

CDA became involved in the project post tender, working closely with the contractor, McLaughlin & Harvey, and the client to improve the buildability of the original design and to investigate cost savings.

The amended design significantly improves the apartment layouts by maximising the usable area whilst providing a more uniform mix of  apartment types. Other challenges such as the sensitive repurposing of four existing buildings, complex site levels, and M&E coordination were also fully addressed during the detailed design.
