Old Brewery, Bristol

A former brewery, the site consists of a number of low-quality warehouses situated in the heart of Southville, an inner-city ward of Bristol. The original proposal included the redevelopment of those buildings and the addition of two new towers.

CDA became involved in the mixed-use project post tender, working closely with the D&B contractor (McLaughlin & Harvey) and the client in order to improve the buildability of the original design and to investigate cost savings.

The amended scheme improves the apartment layouts significantly, maximising the areas and providing a more uniform mix of types. Other challenges such as site access levels, M&E coordination and new fire regulations were also fully addressed prior the new Tender submission.
