Gilmore Place, Edinburgh

CDA gained planning permission on behalf of S1 Developments for the redevelopment of a large former care home and nunnery which was run by the Little Sisters of the Poor. The C-listed main building was challenging due to the complex configuration of linked spaces and its large chapel building in the centre of the site.

The design sympathetically redevelops the existing building into high-quality student accommodation. The large grounds provided opportunity for new buildings which provide additional student accommodation, set around the perimeter to maintain the formal courtyard arrangement around the chapel.
