Calderhead High School, North Lanarkshire

Working with Balfour Beatty, alongside North Lanarkshire Council, CDA completed the new build Calderhead High School. The £18m development was located in the grounds of the existing school in Shotts, for a roll of around 500 pupils, with a phased approach that allowed the existing school to remain in operation throughout the works.

The project presented significant challenges and involved a high degree of liaison with the Council and existing school alike, to rationalise the brief and meet both the high design aspirations and limited budget.

Once complete the existing school building was demolished making way for a full size 3G floodlit football pitch providing year-round use.
