CDA originally obtained detailed planning consent and listed building consent for the redevelopment of the previous Telford College site to the north of Ferry Road in 2007. The redevelopment included converting the ‘B’ listed college building – formerly Ainslie Park High School – and masterplanning the grounds around it with new residential apartment buildings. A simple architectural language is used for the new buildings which echo the style and form of the art deco listed school with white rendered walls characterising the design and horizontal parapet roof edges. There are 209 new build apartments arranged in five buildings and we redesigned the layouts and building forms in late 2010 to reflect the current residential market in Edinburgh.
