Caltongate Affordable
As part of the Caltongate development within Edinburgh’ Old Town CDA worked for the Places for People Group to design the affordable housing buildings on two sites within the north of the development. All three buildings face Calton Road: the northern site is long and narrow sitting at the base of the steep, rocky, landscaped embankment leading to Regent Terrace. The southern site is characterised by the adjacent listed graveyard and all three buildings contain commercial uses at ground floor with a variety of apartments above. The style of the buildings is simple: a varied window pattern within rendered walls and monopitch roofs above.
