Welshpool
This £4M building in Welshpool houses wood chip burners and associated plant to enable the generation of heating and power to supply an adjacent retail park, with excess power being sold to the regional electricity board. The building consists of an open timber grid shell acting as a visual enclosure to the machinery so that natural air movement is encouraged whilst mitigating the environmental effects of the process. Timber shingles are used over those parts of the machinery which need weather protection.
