This waste management facility for Country Waste in Croydon consists of 11,800 sq m of covered space handling up to 500,000 tonnes of builder’s waste per annum. The first phase of the project is a materials recycling facility, a sustainable building with a green roof, rainwater harvesting and uses on site produced chipped wood from waste materials for the local generation of heat and power. Phase 2 of the project will be a commercial biomass incinerator and CHP using even more of the chipped wood as a source material. The project also includes a 1,100 sq m office building and facilities for 100 operatives, to include showers, lockers, canteen and medical facilities.
